Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 2026
Lifeline ("we", "our", "the platform") connects blood donors with people who need blood urgently. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how it's used. By creating a donor account or submitting a blood request, you agree to the practices described here.
1Information we collect
When you register as a donor, we collect:
- Your name and email address
- Your blood type and city
- A password, stored securely by our authentication provider (we never see or store your plain-text password)
When you submit a blood request, we collect:
- Patient name, blood type needed, and unit count
- Hospital name and city
- Contact name and phone number
- Any optional notes you provide
2How we use this information
We use donor information to match you with nearby blood requests that fit your blood type, and to display your name and contact details to signed-in donors when relevant. We use blood request information to broadcast the request to matching donors and to let hospital-side staff coordinate a response.
3Who can see your information
Your donor profile (name, blood type, city) is visible to other signed-in donors through the Find Donors search, so people can identify potential matches. Blood requests are visible to signed-in donors whose blood type matches, and to Lifeline staff through the admin dashboard. We do not sell or share your information with third-party advertisers.
4Data storage and security
Your data is stored using Google Firebase, a widely used cloud platform with industry-standard security practices. Access to donor and request data is restricted by security rules that only permit signed-in users to view relevant information, and only Lifeline-approved staff accounts can access the admin dashboard.
5Your choices
You can update your profile information (name, blood type, city) at any time from your donor dashboard. If you'd like your account and associated data deleted entirely, contact us using the details on our Emergency Contact page and we'll process the request.
6Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the platform evolves. Continued use of Lifeline after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.
